Illustrated puppet and lip sync project using Adobe Photoshop/After Effects

Image
(Click "read more" to see video) The final project for class was dialogue and learning to puppet and edit video/audio in after effects with a puppet made in Photoshop. I chose to do a very short sentence from one of my friends youtube videos. She talks about the hair extensions she's using and how they turned pink. I even made the puppet resemble her. This project was fun and went by fast once the puppet was assembled.

Motion media project syncing words and lyrics using Adobe After Effects

Image
(Click "read more" to see video) Motion Media intro project- For this project I chose to do the character Stewie from Family Guy singing "You Make Me Feel so Young". It provided practice for me to animate words across the screen and has interesting places to emphasize words.  All video and audio was edited in Adobe After Effects.  *Credits to Seth Macfarlane and the makers of Family Guy. After Effects project- Bouncing ball with color changes

Image
(Click "read more" to see video) Beginning of Motion graphics in After Effects- This assignment consisted of creating a bouncing ball in After Effects. I created an obstacle course of white shapes with color changes after each touch of the ball. The ball bounces atop the stationary blocks and runs into the moving rectangle that throws it off course.  (Click read more to see video)

Hand drawn line animation project

I only had a short time to do the project but spent a lot of time on the movement of the fly and the body turn of the frog. Not a finished piece just a sketch piece.

Rotoscope Project

(Click "read more" to see video) Rotoscope Project. This project consisted of using Harmony to trace over a video. I chose the song "Grow Old With You" sung by Adam Sandler in the movie "The Wedding Singer". I chose this because I liked the part where he comes out of the curtain with the guitar. I thought that would add an interesting action aspect to the song instead of just drawing him singing.  (Click read more to see video)

Stop motion project

A lot of this short is also pose to pose. The cloud appeared sad and or hungry at the beginning which he came back to eat after the tree was full grown. If I were to do it again I would provide more pictures within the animation to slow it down.  (Click read more to see video)

Stop motion project of bouncing ball

(Click "read more" to see video) My Bouncing ball project consists of a character throwing a ball to his dog. It was one simple bounce to show arcs, squash and stretch and weight and then dropped at the characters feet at the end.  (Click read more to see video)

A little about me

Hi there! My name is Natalie Brooks. I am a Bachelor of Fine arts major and animation minor at University of Tampa. I love to create and learn anything involving art. Like most people, as a kid, I fell in love with the animations of Disney movies. My goal has always been to work on movies or television, I just don't know exactly what specific area I would like to pursue. My goal for this animation class is to experience how to animate and get comfortable using the tools to do so. I also enjoy my major (Fine Art) because it gives me extra background on how things look realistically and advance my skills in drawing and painting! I am excited to produce a walk cycle because I watch a lot of youtube videos with my favorite animators who show their processes of walk cycles, environmental design and character design. In which, getting actual class instruction on some of these things would help me understand it more than a video. I'm really looking forward to this class!
